Why Skrappy exists
I'm not a software guy who discovered the trades. I'm a trades guy who got fed up.
Since 2018 I've run junk removal and demolition crews in Charlotte. And for nearly nine years I've lived the same Tuesday morning over and over: a crew comes up short, the job can't wait, and there's no way to find a skilled, reliable person today. The job boards want two weeks. The lead sites want my money. The group texts go unanswered. So the job slips — and somebody's paycheck slips with it.
It was never a hiring problem. It was an availability problem. The right people existed — I just couldn't find them in time, and they couldn't find me.
So I built the thing I needed: a place where verified skilled workers and the businesses that need them can find each other in minutes, not weeks. Where the money sits safely in escrow until the work is approved. Where every completed gig builds a track record that follows you — a résumé written in real work, not words. And where workers keep 100% of what they earn, because the people doing the work shouldn't be the ones paying for the platform.
